Call for contributions: survey on university finances

Deadline: 30 June 2024

As part of its work on ‘Financially sustainable universities’, EUA is looking to renew insights into university finances from an institutional perspective, exploring trends, identifying strengths and weaknesses, and deriving actionable recommendations for all stakeholders.

The turbulence of the past two years has undeniably left its mark on university finances. From navigating the challenges of the pandemic to grappling with the energy crisis and geopolitical tensions, alongside the imperative to invest in green and digital transitions, our sector faces a myriad of financial hurdles.

Now more than ever, it is crucial to gain a comprehensive understanding of the financial landscape across European universities. You are therefore invited to share your institution's financial journey and help shape the future of higher education finances, by participating in EUA’s newly launched survey.

This survey delves into various aspects of university finances, from the impact of recent developments like European Universities alliances to exploring capacities in areas such as borrowing, fundraising and investment. By taking part, you will have the opportunity to critically reflect on your institution's financial strategy while contributing valuable data for benchmarking and advocacy purposes.

TAKE THE SURVEY

You can design your path in the survey by selecting questions relevant to your institution. Please note that only one coordinated response per institution should be submitted. For your convenience, we invite you to consult the PDF version that is integrated into the survey.

The deadline to complete the survey is 30 June 2024. Your input will be instrumental in mapping institutional practices, drawing insights, and generating recommendations for the entire sector. The first findings will be presented at the 2024 EUA Funding Forum, with the full study slated for publication in 2025.
