National rectors’ conferences announce new Presidents

The Hungarian Rectors’ Conference has announced that its new president (from 1 July 2012) is Professor Dr. Barna Mezey, Rector of the Eötvös Loránd University (Budapest).

He will serve as President of the organisation until 2014. For more information please visit the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference website.

Meanwhile, the Dutch Association of Universities (VSNU) has announced that Dr. Karl Dittrich has been appointed as the organisation’s next president. His term will start on 1 December 2012 and he will succeed Dr. Sijbolt Noorda who has led the Association since December 2006.

Dr. Dittrich has served as chairman of the executive board of Maastricht University, president of the Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders, and in 2008 was elected to serve as vice-president to the European Consortium for Accreditation (ECA).
