David Oliva Uribe is Head of the EUA Council for Doctoral Education. His work is focused on global trends in doctoral education, doctoral programmes and researcher careers.
Before joining EUA in September 2016, David worked as Scientific Researcher and Academic Coordinator at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel VUB. He worked on the development of intelligent surgical tools to improve the safety of brain tumour’s operation. Before that, he had gained experience in R&D working in different university environments in Germany (University of Hannover and Heinz Nixdorf Institute at the University of Paderborn. From 2000-2005 he worked in Mexico at the Tecnologico of Monterrey as Full-time docent in Mechanical Engineering and was appointed Director of the Academic Program of the Bachelor in Mechatronics.
David, as a pro-bono activity, has participated in the development of professional networks of highly skilled Mexicans living in Europe to promote academic and scientific cooperation.
