Lidia Borrell-Damian, Head of Unit, Research Partnerships, joined EUA in January 2006. She received a Doctorate degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Barcelona in 1995 on hydrogen photo-production. She was an Assistant Professor at the University of Barcelona from 1990 to 1998, and a Post-Doctoral researcher at North Carolina State University, USA, and The University of Western Ontario, Canada, from 1997 to 2000. On returning to Barcelona, she worked for a private chemical company as Deputy Director for the R&D department. After two years in the R&D industrial world, she moved to the public research management sector at the Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona), where she was Director of Research Services from 2003 to 2005.
At EUA, Dr Borrell-Damian holds responsibility for project and policy development in the areas of collaborative doctoral programmes, researchers’ careers, university-industry collaborative research and knowledge transfer. She is involved currently in the development of the European Platform of Universities in Energy Research, Education and Training (EPUE) and EUA’s activities on the contribution of universities to regional innovation (Smart Specialisation Strategies).
