Adopt an Academic programme calls for mentors to support refugee scholars
01 December 2016
The Adopt an Academic programme is accepting applications for mentors and mentees. The programme gives researchers from renowned German and Arab higher education and research institutions the opportunity to support refugee scholars through academic counselling, systematic network building and administrative assistance.
The peer-to-peer mentoring programme was created with the support of the Arab German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities and the Freie Universität Berlin. It seeks to create an Arab-German network of solidarity that not only opens up new perspectives to the mentoring programme’s mentees but also strengthens the value of cross-cultural research cooperation.
Adopt an Academic collaborates with mentors on a voluntary basis who may represent all academic disciplines. The programme supports refugee scholars who had to flee their home countries because of ongoing military conflicts and/or profound limitations to their academic freedom.
