Registration and Call for Contributions open for the 11th EUA-CDE Annual Meeting

15 February 2018

Registration for the 11th EUA-CDE Annual Meeting “Excellence through diversity: Doctoral education in a globalised world” is now open. The event will be hosted by the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia on 7-8 June 2018.

The meeting will focus on diversity in doctoral education. Academic leaders, doctoral education professionals and other stakeholders will gather together to consider how different dimensions of diversity contribute to the success of doctoral education in an increasingly globalised environment. This includes institutional diversity, as well as the diverse backgrounds of today’s doctoral candidates, and access to doctoral education.

One key element of the meeting will be the presentation and discussion of the results of a comprehensive study on the organisation of doctoral education in Europe. The study will provide key information on the status of doctoral education in Europe and influence the work of the EUA-CDE in the coming years. Given the growing importance of internationalisation in doctoral education, the programme will also include perspectives from outside Europe.

A call for contributions is open for EUA-CDE members (please consult here if your institution is a member). Contributions should be related to diversity in doctoral education. Themes can include, but are not limited to:

  • diversity of institutional approaches to doctoral education;
  • fostering interaction between doctoral candidates from different backgrounds;
  • contributing to the internationalisation of higher education.

New this year: contributors can choose between a parallel session or an agora-type setting for their presentations. For further information, to register (open to everyone)  or to submit a contribution (open only to EUA-CDE members), please download the full call or visit the event webpage.

The deadline for submissions is 18 March 2018, and the deadline for registrations is 23 May 2018.
