    EUA has expressed in several occasions its concerns regarding the measures taken in Turkey since the attempted coup in July 2016 and keeps monitoring the evolution of the situation for the higher education sector.


    EUA has published a position paper advocating for ambitious EU funding for research and innovation (R&I) in Europe post-2020. It contributes to the upcoming discussion on the EU’s Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) and the next EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (FP9).


    The deadline for the TRENDS 2018 survey has been extended until 5 June 2017. EUA encourages all European universities and higher education institutions to participate, as an opportunity to share their experiences and voice their needs. The results of the survey will feed into the TRENDS 2018 report, which EUA will submit to the 2018 Bologna Ministerial Conference, and use in various policy and practice contexts.


    Registrations for the upcoming conference on “Science & Skills for Renewables Integration” are open until 15 May. The event, hosted by KU Leuven from 31 May to 2 June 2017, is the 5th UNI-SET Energy Clustering Event. Through a wide range of sessions, it will focus on the role of universities as educational and research institutions at the centre of the energy transition.


    The fourth Arab Euro Conference on Higher Education (AECHE) on “Research for sustainable societies – the role of universities” took place at the University Mohammed V in Rabat, Morocco from 24 to 26 April.


    The March for Science on 22 April was successful in bringing together thousands of scientists, researchers and concerned citizens to advocate for the cause of Science and evidence-based policy making.
