EUA President meets Commissioner Navracsics
EUA President Rolf Tarrach met with Tibor Navracsics, EU Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, on 18 February 2016. In the meeting, Commissioner Navracsics and President Tarrach exchanged views on current issues, underlining the importance of education – including the role of lifelong learning – for the future of Europe, and expressed their mutual willingness to continue cooperating and building on shared interests.

EUA responds to EC’s European copyright framework
EUA has offered a list of six suggestions to the European Commission regarding its intentions to move towards a modern, more European copyright framework. In a communication, dated 9 December 2015, the EC addresses the need to urgently reform current legislation. EUA welcomes the communication and agrees that copyright rules are outdated and need to be aligned with new working methods, digitalisation and increasing international collaboration in higher education.

Showcase your initiative in EUA’s Refugees Welcome Map
With the Refugees Welcome Map, EUA aims to showcase and document the commitment of higher education institutions and tertiary education sector organisations in supporting refugee students, academics and university staff. Their initiatives and activities will be presented in an interactive map on 29 February 2016.

EUA Member Consultation: Have your say on Horizon 2020 and Erasmus+
In January, EUA launched a member consultation ahead of the mid-term review of the present generation of the EU funding programmes Horizon 2020 and Erasmus+. Members are invited to share their views on and experiences with the two programmes by filling in two online questionnaires.
