Register for Fourth Annual Meeting of the EUA Council for Doctoral Education (EUA-CDE)

EUA is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the Fourth Annual Meeting of the EUA Council for Doctoral Education, which will be held at Carlos III University of Madrid (Getafe Campus), Spain on 9-10 June 2011.

The EUA-CDE Annual Meeting is the largest and most comprehensive of its kind, bringing together all stakeholders in European doctoral education to discuss important issues related to doctoral education. The event is open to EUA-CDE members and non-members alike.

The theme of this year’s event is ‘Promoting creativity – cultivating the research mindset’. The close link between creativity and doctoral education is fostered in the Salzburg II Recommendations. Nurturing flexibility of thought, creativity and intellectual autonomy - in short, the research mindset - is at the heart of doctoral education. The conference will therefore look at creative ways of providing structured doctoral education which promote individual autonomy and critical thinking.

To register or for further information about the EUA-CDE Annual Meeting, please see the event website.

Registrations open for the Institutional Evaluation Programme (IEP)

Registration for the 2011-2012 round of the Institutional Evaluation Programme (IEP) is now open until 7 July 2011.

The Institutional Evaluation Programme is designed to support universities in increasing their capacity for setting and implementing strategic goals, as well as in developing an internal quality culture.

The evaluation takes place over a whole academic year. It includes a self-evaluation phase, two site-visits and a final report that provides specific recommendations. Since 1994, the IEP methodology has been tested in over 230 institutions across 45 countries worldwide. Institutions that have undergone an IEP evaluation in recent years are also encouraged to consider applying for a follow-up review as a means of monitoring progress and maintaining momentum. For further information on IEP and the registration procedure, please visit the IEP website.

Registrations are open until 7 July 2011. A preparatory workshop for all institutions participating in the IEP 2011-2012 round will be held in Brussels in October. Further questions about the IEP may be addressed to Alicja Ziubrzynska.

You can also download the IEP brochure here.
