EUA statement on the Proposal for a General Data Protection Regulation

EUA has this week published a statement in relation to the proposal for a General Data Protection Regulation on the protection of personal data, and the potential threat to research posed by the suggested amendments by the European Parliament’s Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) Committee which were adopted by the Parliament on 12 March 2014.

First MPPC workshop in France: Promoting outward mobility of students and staff

Twelve French university vice-presidents for international relations, French ministry representatives, the national agency for mobility, EUA, the Academic Cooperation Association (ACA) and several other European university mobility experts gathered in Paris on 7 and 8 April to look at outward mobility of student, staff and PhD candidates at French universities.

7th EUA Council for Doctoral Education Annual Meeting, Liverpool, UK (19-20 June 2014)

Registration is now open for the 7th Annual Meeting of the EUA Council for Doctoral Education (EUA-CDE) that will take place from 19 to 20 June at the University of Liverpool in the UK. The theme of this year’s event is “Doctoral Education: Thinking globally, acting locally”.

EUA Funding Forum: call for contributions

Abstracts can still be submitted until Monday 5 May for EUA’s Second Funding Forum, which will take place from 9 to 10 October at the University of Bergamo in Italy. All higher education stakeholders with an interest in funding are invited to contribute – in particular university leaders and representatives, policy makers, funding agencies, and researchers. All details including the submission form can be found in the call for contributions.

Brussels in brief: updates on EU developments in education and research

Earlier this month, Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, published its most recent data on the Europe 2020 education indicators in the EU28. Meanwhile the EC Research Executive Agency has announced an open call under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie co-funding scheme COFUND; and the EC Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency has announced a call for proposals for the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education.
