EUA Newsletter 1   9 January 2015

In light of the recent attack against Charlie Hebdo EUA wishes to express its solidarity with the families of the victims and associates itself with the statement of the French national Rector’s Conference (Conférence des présidents d'université - CPU) in reaffirming the primacy of freedom of expression, a core university value.

EUA in 2015

EUA wishes all its newsletter readers a successful 2015. Like in previous years we have many exciting events and project-related activities planned for the year ahead.

A full list of events covering a wide range of topics, including those organised in the framework of projects, can be viewed on the EUA events webpage. These include EUA’s Annual Conference that will take place at the University of Antwerp in Belgium from 16 to 17 April and will focus on “European Universities in Research and Innovation - People, Policies and Partnerships”. EUA members are also encouraged to attend the EUA General Assembly prior to the main conference where the new EUA President and five new board members will be elected.

Meanwhile, the project section of our website also contains information about all of our ongoing projects and other relevant opportunities for members to participate in.

In terms of its policy work in 2015, EUA will continue to work on different levels to ensure that the voice of universities is heard in European-level policy debates – particularly on the key issues that impact on the work of national university associations at national level and on the association’s individual member universities. The EUA work programme for 2015/16, with detailed information on all key areas of our policy and project-related activities, will be published shortly on our website once it has been discussed and approved by EUA’s Council at its next meeting later this month.
