In order to foster and contribute to the further development of a quality culture in European higher education institutions, EUA has carried out various projects in the field of quality assurance.
Currently EUA is working on four projects in the field of quality assurance:
1) Examining Quality Culture (EQC): through which it aims – along with its partners the Scottish quality assurance agency (QAA Scotland) and the German Rectors' Conference (HRK) – to map internal quality assurance processes in European higher education institutions and promote sharing of good practice. First results of the projects are already available and the second phase of the project is currently under way.
2) Mapping the application and implementation of the ESGs (MAP-ESG) along with other members of the E4 Group. The project aims to map the experiences of various stakeholders in implementing the ESGs.
3) Europe-Africa Quality Connect, in partnership with the Association of African Universities (AAU), the University of Aveiro, Portugal, and the Irish University Quality Board (IUQB). This project aims to share the institutional evaluation approach in a trial application within five African universities in different regions of sub-Saharan Africa, as well as to exchange regional practices in QA in both Africa and Europe.
4) Accountable Research Environments for Doctoral Education (ARDE): will look at how quality is assured and enhanced in European doctoral programmes by gathering information on existing structures, good practice and areas of concern. The project is a partnership with University College Cork, Universities Austria (UNIKO) and the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (CRASP).
Currently EUA is working on one ongoing project in the field of transparency:
1) Rankings Review project: Since 2011 EUA has been producing an annual review on rankings, which analyses the methodologies used in the main international rankings and thus provides EUA members and the higher education community with information on how to interpret the results of these rankings.
