EUA organised its first conference in Asia in September 2007.
In collaboration with the Malaysian Vice-Chancellors Committee and the Asia Europe Foundation (ASEF), EUA held a Conference on Governance and Management in Asia and Europe from 5 - 6 September 2007, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where EUA Members participated along with partners from the Asian higher education community.
The Asia-Europe Colloquium addressed university leadership and senior representatives of university associations and networks from Asia and Europe. It aimed at facilitating dialogue and discussion among participants and to establish a better understanding of institutional management and governance in different parts of Europe and Asia, in order to enhance exchange and cooperation prospects.
Alongside this conference, EUA members were also invited to take part in a specially organised ‘study tour' programme that run from 4 - 8 September. This included visits to Malaysian organisations and institutions related to higher education and research, and also a trip to Singapore. Furthermore, participants had the opportunity to attend on 7 September 2007 the Asia-Link Symposium on higher education issues, which was the opening event of the European Higher Education Fair (EHEF) in Malaysia, organised by the European Commission.
