Pre-conference workshop: Europe and transnational higher education (TNE)
Programme as of 12 October 2009
Thursday, 8 October 2009
Old Library building
The workshop presentations can be found in the links below as a PDF
document.
The workshop will be for the EUA membership and selected invitees from relevant organisations and international partners. The purpose of this special event is to
- take up the discussions begun at the Prague Convention on TNE, by providing a systematic introduction to the issue (historical overview, reasons for the emergence of TNE, different types/models and approaches in TNE, legal issues, impact on quality, on mobility, and on partnerships)
- assess how TNE and, in particular, the off-shore, branch campuses and programmes impact higher education systems on a global scale, including its impacts on European higher education
- discuss the possible impact of TNE on Europe as both a TNE provider and receiver – i.e. non-European providers in Europe, European universities with branch campuses abroad, European universities establishing branches in other European countries) for the future, and to propose ways in which EUA could take action on these issues that are of growing importance for its members.
