The Nippon Foundation is an independent, non-profit, grant making organisation that was founded in 1962. The Foundation began a Book Donation Project last year with the aim of providing books in English about contemporary Japan to libraries overseas.

The Foundation has produced a catalogue detailing 100 selected books in English about contemporary Japan. Libraries are encouraged to apply for any books on this list that would help to improve their Japanese Studies section.

The Foundation is now inviting applications from libraries in Europe. University and public libraries that will be able to make the selection available to a wider readership will be given priority.
