The European Commission’s DG Research has launched a study aimed at assessing the legal and technical feasibility of setting up a pan-European pension fund for researchers.

Within the framework of this study, that is being carried out by Hewitt Associates on behalf of the European Commission, a survey has just been launched aiming to explore the employers’ perspectives on complementary pension and human capital management practices in R&D intensive organisations operating in Europe. The survey is addressed to organisations involved in R&D activities, irrespective of their legal status or sector of activity, including companies, universities, public research institutes and international organisations.

The survey coordinators invite EUA member universities to take part in this initiative. The questionnaire is somewhat technical so the respondents should preferably be Human Resource Managers.

The survey should be completed on-line at the following secure web-site.

Please note that the closing date of the survey is 30 November 2009. All individual information provided will be treated in full confidentiality and exclusively for the purpose of this survey. All answers to be included in the results of the survey will be published only in aggregate format and not identifiable in relation to any specific organisation or respondent.

For further background information, you can contact Leonardo Sforza, Head Research Europe and EU Affairs at Hewitt Associates.
