The University Centre Saint-Ignatius Antwerp (UCSIA) is organising the two-day international conference “Rethinking the university after Bologna: new concepts and practices beyond tradition and the market” on the 12-13 December 2008 in Antwerp, Belgium.

The conference programme will be based around four main themes:

• the social and public purpose of the university;
• alternatives and changes in academic education;
• recent developments in and organisation of academic research;
• academic knowledge production and dissemination in the information age.

In the framework of this conference, UCSIA has launched a call for papers and a call for workshops. Proposals should be submitted to Sara Mels by the 15 April 2008.
