Prof. Sezer Şener KomsuoğluProfessor Sezer Şener Komsuoğlu graduated from the Department of Medicine, Ataturk University. Between 1979 and 1981, she worked as a lecturer and research assistant in the Department of Neurology Sciences at the Hospital of Queen Elizabeth and in the Clinical Neurophysiology Unit at Aston University. She received one year of postgraduate education (F.R.C.P.) at the Midland Center for Neurology and Neurosurgery.

In 1982, she was appointed as founder professor with the title Associate Professor in Neurology in the Department of Neurology’s Faculty of Medicine, Karadeniz Teknik University. She became Professor in 1988 and served as the head of the Department of Neurology in the Faculty of Medicine at the same university.

Between 1995 and 2006, she served as head of the Departments of Neurology and Internal Medicine. Afterwards, she was elected and served as the Rector of Kocaeli University for two consecutive terms from 2006-2014. She then became Advisory to the President of the Turkish Council of Higher Education (CoHE), and a member of the Commission of Medical Sciences in the CoHE.
